Professional football players always experience incredible loads – imagine if a body weighing over 220 pounds constantly hit you, for example, linebackers moving at high speed. If there were no protective equipment, it would be practically impossible to play. Equipment is an integral part of professional football, which includes helmets, T-shirts, shoulder pads, shorts, etc. You can purchase these in our store.
Helmet
Head protection from damage is critical, as the concussion of the brain can easily disable the player.
The helmet consists of several parts:
- Frame.
- Guards for cheekbones and airbags.
- Protective mask.
- Chinstrap.
- Mouthguard – various sizes and colors.
The player’s body also needs protection. Shoulder pads protect the player during shocks, grabs, sets, and wrestling in each game. Underwear protection is hidden under a t-shirt and breeches.
Tree types of protection cover the player’s body:
- Shoulder pads.
- Thigh pads cover the hip joint.
- Knee pads protect the leg to the knee.
Shoulder pads are one of the main parts of equipment. They consist of a plastic base with a soft lining under it. It protects the chest and ribs with various screeds and fasteners.
They perform the following functions:
- It absorbs part of the shock pulse, deforming on impact. Free deformation is provided by strapping all the elements of the shoulder pads.
- It distributes the blow over a larger area so that at the point of impact the pressure decreases.
Very durable plastic is used to protect the ribs front and rear. For example, a flap on the shield prevents the lineman from being grabbed by the flap. Inside the shoulder pads is protected by a soft lining, and you can attach additional parts to the lining using Velcro.
T-shirt is worn on top of the shoulder pads and fits tightly to it
To protect the body below the belt, players choose different equipment, depending on their position on the field or previously received injuries. A fully equipped player has several types of protective plates. Many styles depend on the structure of the player’s body. Thigh pads protect the hip area from the damage.
T-shirt and jockstrap or compression shorts
T-shirts and shorts are always in sight. The primary purpose of these garments is to identify the player by his name, number and command colors. There is the emblem of the team on t-shirts also. The front and back of the T-shirt consist of nylon, with polyurethane side inserts to keep it stretched. T-shirt should be worn so that the player of the opposing team could not use it as a lever if he grasps it.
To counter this:
- T-shirts have a specialized bottom extension that connects the front and back of the t-shirt.
- T-shirts have a Velcro back that is held at the top of the shorts.
- Many players stick t-shirts to the shoulder pads with double-sided tape.
Jockstrap or compression shorts also combine nylon and polyurethane to fit snugly to the body. They have pockets for wearing a protective cup.
Arms and legs
Without hand protection, receivers cannot catch the ball, and foot protection prevents injury. That’s why gloves and sneakers are so important. Many receivers wear gloves covered with sticky rubber or apply a special spray on them. It provides the best ball grabbing while taking a pass. The linemen also wear gloves – they don’t need to catch the ball, but they must use their hands to fight the linemen of the other team. Linemen gloves usually have a lining that protects the hands. Here you can purchase not only football uniforms and specialized equipment but also uniforms for children and Cheerios.
